Today was not a wonderful day. Feeling a little "below the line" and ok...feeling sorry for myself. Sigh. But....I realized as I was sulking that I was getting a lot of cleaning done! Yeah!! Clean toilets!!
Was checking out Adventures in Kindergarten's blog and Mary mentioned how much she loves teaching her kids to draw and how it inspires writers. I agree! ReplyDeleteI love this. I am one of those artistically challenged people and will be using this myself. My students are sweet and will tell me that my drawings look almost like the animal.

ReplyDeleteYou are so wonderful. Thank you so much. My class is beginning zoo and farm animal units. This will be perfect. And I too use teaching them how to draw before writing. It works best with struggling writers/readers. When they can draw a nice picture it makes reading their writing so much easier.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! Our students seem to think they cannot draw. Perhaps this would free up the imaginative juices a little and instill self-confidence. I would love to make one like this to go with our bug unit next week. How do you make the four sequential drawings? I am very impressed. I try it on Paint and I cannot keep a straight line.

I use excel but I've also done it in Publisher. It is a good confidence builder. By the middle/end of the year I don't hear "I can't draw" anymore. Most of them even quit relying on the step by step drawings and just draw on their own.

ReplyDeleteThe kids and I absolutely LOVE your step by step instructional on the ABC's of animals. It's exactly what I've been doing with my daycare kids, but printed out these pages was so nice for me to have ready on hand and I will put them to good use following along with our Alphabet weekly letter. Thank you!!! :)
