Question about Google Docs

I have had several e-mails from people asking that I "share" a document with them that I have listed as a freebie through google docs.  So, hopefully this doesn't sound too ignorant but.....what does that mean?  I thought I was already sharing it through google docs?  I feel bad but I have deleted 3 requests already because I really didn't know what that meant.  Now I'm getting more requests so I guess I should figure out what that means!  Can anyone explain it to me?  I would be eternally grateful!!!

  1. Do you have it set as a public document or a private one? If it is set as private our readers can see the doc but can't download it

  2. I have it marked as "shared with anyone who has the link" and then I linked right to the document. I think a lot of people have already downloaded them because a lot of people have left "thank you" comments.

  3. It's a problem on their end. They are going to the right side and clicking share. I've had a lot of people ask me also. I actually posted about it, but it didn't help. They need to go on the left hand corner, click file, then download. If you have it set to certain emails, they should be able to get it. If you want everyone to get it, you have to set it as public. Hope that helps!

  4. Google Docs can be searched by anyone. They are searching for a topic, and they find your document, but they can't download it if they don't know the source link. Sending the source link to them is up to you! If you want anyone to see it, change it to public. Hope this helps!
