Pete loves Christmas

The kids listened to Pete the Cat Saves Christmas and they have been singing the song all week!  It is catchy!  If you haven't listened to author's sing it click here.

Big Pete and all his little buddies are hanging out in our hallway.

Sorry. . . I don't have a pattern for project.  I just give them rectangles (1 half sheet of blue for face, 2 small blue for paws and 2 small yellow for eyes) and they "get rid of all the sharp pieces" and make ovals.  They are TLC  art experts so this is a piece of cake for them!  The Santa hat was a pattern from an old project that fit perfectly.
I do have the writing page to share (and a few other pages like the one below) you can get by clicking HERE.

Enjoy!

Shoe Tying With Pete the Cat

Shoe tying. . . not a school skill, I know.  BUUUUT Pete the Cat came today to encourage us to tie our own shoes!

We read the book Pete the Cat I Love My White Shoes and then talked about how Pete wants us to have safe feet.  He sent a poster to school and the kids get to sign it once they can show me they can tie their own shoes:

He also sent each of the kids a License to Tie and a certificate:

I don't teach shoe tying but I do encourage it!

Now when a kinder asks me to tie their shoes I can say, "Ask one of Pete the Cat's friends who knows how!"

First Day Pete the Cat Tour

We don't start school until August 20th but this morning I woke up in a panic.  I haven't been in to school AT ALL this summer.

I checked last week. . . my room hasn't been cleaned yet.  Giant relief!  I can't do anything until it's clean. . . yay!  That was last week. . . this week, I'm panicking.

I do, thanks to my excellent team, have the first 2 weeks of lessons planned out.  I thing down. . . 200 to go.  AUGH!!!!!!

Ok, deep breath.

I am super excited to read Pete the Cat's new book Rocking in My School Shoes the first day of school.  For the past 10 years I've read the Kissing Hand and then we do a tour of the school looking for Chester.  This year we are doing a tour of the school while looking for Pete!

If you haven't seen the new book here's a sneak peek <3

The tour is always crazy insane. . . trying to keep track of 24 kids who don't know hallway rules or understand my expectation yet and whose names and faces I don't have memorized yet. . . oh boy.   BUT it's fun and the kids enjoy the hunt.  I'm always super surprised how many of them TRULY believe we'll find Chester.  : )

Here's a Pete the Cat freebie for you. (Includes tour of school cards, first day certificate and coloring page)  I found out my kiddos get art this year so I updated the tour.  If you've downloaded this from my TPT site you might want to download it again (I can't post it on TPT anymore. . . long story. . .copyright laws blah, blah, blah.)

Click Pete to get your copy:

Ok, off to get something school related done. . . maybe I'll start my "to do" list.  That always makes me feel better plus I LOVE checking things off the list!
